Haim and Hanna Neustadt, Leah Schwartzman's parents came from Mea Shearim in Jerusalem.
In 1882 they moved to Rishon Lezion and were among its founders and the founders of the Great Synagogue. Their uniqueness was that they came from a traditional home and allowed Zelig to marry their daughter Leah, even though he was not as ultra-Orthodox as they were.
